This billboard at the corner of Krog and DeKalb was a favorite ATL spot of mine for years.

Every month for several years, MailChimp had featured site-specific work commissioned from local artists. It was a wonderful example of a company directly supporting artists without exploiting their work (or being disingenuous or corny in the process). The only requirement was to use an outline of Freddie’s (MailChimp’s mascot) head.

The project ended in 2018 (sadly), but I’m humbled and honored to have been the last artist showing work at this location.

Bonus text:
Conceptually, their mascot “Freddie” is shown as the sun setting on a field of flowers (a nod to their new branding efforts, their amazing growth, and the final billboard). Stylistically, it reflects the new branding’s illustrative approach.
